We recently had the pleasure of recording ADR with Phil Daniels for Beyond Paradise Season 4, and it was a session that perfectly reflected the quality and care that goes into the series itself.

Beyond Paradise has quickly established its own identity as more than just a spin-off. Set in the fictional coastal town of Shipton Abbott, the series blends classic whodunnit storytelling with warmth, humour, and a strong sense of community. While the crimes drive the narrative, the heart of the show sits firmly with its characters and their relationships, giving it a tone that feels both comforting and emotionally grounded.

That character-led approach places a real emphasis on dialogue and performance, which is where ADR becomes especially important. Maintaining naturalism and emotional continuity is critical when replacing or enhancing lines, particularly in a show where subtle delivery and timing carry so much weight. Phil brought a deep understanding of this to the session, immediately locking into the emotional beats of each scene.

ADR can be a challenging environment for any actor, requiring precise timing and repetition without losing spontaneity. Phil’s experience shone through. He matched sync effortlessly, adjusted performance where needed, and delivered consistent takes that dropped seamlessly into the existing production sound. The result is dialogue that feels completely at home within the world of the show.

From a technical perspective, the session ran exactly as you would hope. Clean, controlled recordings with a strong focus on continuity meant post-production had maximum flexibility while preserving the organic feel that Beyond Paradise is known for. Creating the right atmosphere in the studio is always important, and sessions like this benefit hugely from a calm, collaborative environment.

Beyond Paradise continues to resonate with audiences because it balances mystery with humanity, allowing moments of humour and tenderness to sit comfortably alongside the drama. Being able to support that process, even at a small but crucial stage like ADR, is something we are genuinely proud of.

At 3studio, we recorded voice over for Our Yorkshire Pub Rescue, working with Jon Richardson on this heartfelt and uniquely Yorkshire story.

The series follows Jon as he invests in The Plough, a village pub in Fadmoor, North Yorkshire. After closing in 2011, the pub was bought by locals determined to bring it back to life, with Jon stepping in to help rebuild and reopen it for the community.

Recording with Jon brought a very different tone compared to traditional narration-led programmes.

His delivery blends humour, honesty, and genuine warmth, reflecting both the challenges of the project and his personal connection to it. The voice over plays a key role in guiding the story, offering insight while keeping everything grounded and relatable.

At 3studio, the focus was on capturing a natural, conversational performance that allows Jon’s personality to come through clearly, while maintaining the clarity and quality needed for broadcast.

A Story Rooted in Community

At its core, Our Yorkshire Pub Rescue is about more than restoring a building.

It’s about community, resilience, and bringing people back together around a shared space. The voice over helps carry that story, adding context and continuity as the journey unfolds.

At 3studio, we were thrilled to be part of Waiting for the Out, the powerful new six-part BBC adaptation of Andy West’s memoir The Life Inside. Written by the multi-award-winning Dennis Kelly (Utopia, Matilda The Musical, Together) and produced by Sister, the series offers a searing exploration of crime, family, redemption and what it truly means to be “inside” or “out.”

The story follows Dan, a philosopher who takes on the role of teaching a class inside a prison. Through weekly discussions on subjects such as dominance, freedom and luck, he encourages inmates to reflect on their own lives, while the lessons inevitably force him to confront his own past. With his father, brother Lee and uncle Frank all having served time, Dan begins to question whether he too deserves to be behind bars. The closer he becomes to the men he teaches, the more his sense of identity starts to unravel, blurring the boundaries between those on the inside and those on the out.

We had the pleasure of recording ADR with the brilliant Phil Daniels, who takes on the role of Uncle Frank. Phil is known for an extraordinary career that spans film, television and theatre, with iconic roles in Quadrophenia, Scum and EastEnders, along with more recent appearances in House of the Dragon, I Hate Suzie, Adult Material and Sliced. His experience brings depth and authenticity to Frank, a character whose past casts a long shadow over Dan’s journey.

Our work at 3studio focused on capturing every nuanced detail of performance, ensuring the emotional intensity of the story was preserved on screen. In a series built on tension, intimacy and the weight of unspoken truths, ADR plays a vital role in making sure every line lands with the clarity and impact the narrative deserves.

Waiting for the Out is more than a prison drama. At 3studio, we were delighted to provide ADR recording for the third season of the acclaimed Irish-Canadian-Belgian crime drama Hidden Assets. Known for its gripping storylines and sharp performances, the series continues to explore the dark intersections of organised crime, corruption, and justice.

Season 3 sees DS Claire Wallace, played by Nora-Jane Noone, taking the lead of the CAB team following their move from Limerick to Dublin. The new investigation begins with an Irish fund manager defrauding clients, but quickly spirals into a web of intrigue that spans across borders. The trail leads to shocking revelations that even trusted charities have been compromised by white-collar crime, blurring the lines between philanthropy and corruption.

The much-anticipated Series 5 begins on Thursday 9th October 2025, promising more chilling encounters and celebrity stories that will keep viewers gripped.

This season sees the return of ghost hunter Barri Ghai, psychic medium Ian Lawman, and paranormal researcher Jayne Harris. They’re joined by acclaimed American investigator Katrina Weidman, well known for her work on international paranormal shows, bringing a fresh dimension to the team’s investigations. Together, they’ll explore the unexplained in the homes of some of the UK’s most recognisable celebrities, including Gary Numan, Nancy Dell’Olio, Suzanne Shaw, Beverley Callard, Simon Weston, and Antony Cotton.

We’ve had the pleasure of recording Ian’s voiceover for this season, continuing a creative partnership that spans not only previous seasons of Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted but also the original Help! My House Is Haunted series and specials such as The Yorkshire Exorcist. Ian’s commanding narration once again provides the perfect atmosphere, heightening the suspense and intrigue that fans eagerly anticipate.

It’s always a privilege to work alongside Ian and contribute to a series that blends powerful storytelling with genuine paranormal investigation. With a stellar line-up of celebrities and the addition of Katrina Weidman, Series 5 promises to be the most thrilling yet.

At 3studio, we were proud to contribute ADR recording to Jamie Johnson FC – Series 3, the latest chapter of the BBC’s much-loved football drama on CBBC. This series took viewers inside the world of elite academy football, following a new generation of young players as they tested themselves at Hawx United Academy.

Set against the backdrop of professional training and high-pressure competition, Series 3 introduced a fresh squad of hopefuls determined to prove their talent. With every chance to shine came the reality of fierce rivalry, tough choices, and the sacrifices needed to reach the top. The series captured both the thrill of victory and the heartbreak of setbacks, while exploring the friendships, teamwork and resilience that define life at the academy.

Our work at 3studio focused on ADR sessions that enhanced the authenticity and emotion of the performances. From the intensity of match-day to the quieter moments in the changing rooms, ADR was key in maintaining the energy, clarity and realism that made Series 3 so engaging.

The bike was on loan for Dave Day, a ride honouring Dave Myers of The Hairy Bikers. This gave the shoot an added sense of meaning, creating content that reflects both the bike’s heritage and the spirit of the event.

At 3studio, we’re proud to have contributed to the production of Outrageous, an upcoming six-part drama that tells the scandalous and compelling true story of the Mitford sisters. Produced by Firebird Pictures and set to arrive on screens in 2025, this gripping series offers an unfiltered look at one of Britain’s most notorious aristocratic families.

Written by Sarah Williams (Small Island, Flesh and Blood), Outrageous is set against the decadence of British high society in the 1930s, a time of glamour, political upheaval, and family tensions. The series follows the six Mitford sisters as they challenge societal norms, making headlines around the world for their radical choices, romances, betrayals, and even imprisonment. Their unique journeys—from involvement in fascism and communism to literary success and wartime scandal—paint a complex and controversial portrait of privilege, rebellion, and sisterhood.

Our role in this production involved recording ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement), ensuring that every line and performance seamlessly captures the era’s atmosphere and the intense drama of these real-life events. Working with Firebird Pictures on this ambitious project has been an exciting challenge, allowing us to help bring authenticity and emotional depth to the performances.

Directed by Joss Agnew (Poldark, The Irregulars) and Ellie Heydon (Cheaters, Mood), Outrageous is produced by Natasha Romaniuk, with executive producers Elizabeth Kilgarriff, Matthew Mosley, and Craig Holleworth overseeing the production. Co-commissioned by UKTV for U and U&Drama, as well as BritBox International, the series is based on Mary Lovell’s definitive biography The Mitford Girls.

We’re excited that Outrageous is now streaming on BritBox, bringing the Mitford sisters’ complex and controversial stories to life in an unmissable drama for audiences to experience.

We recently had the pleasure of working with the brilliant team at Karrot Animation on their latest preschool series, Ten Little… Who?, which launched on Sky Kids and NOW on demand on Monday 26th May.

If the title rings a bell, that’s because it’s based on the beloved Ten Little picture books by Mike Brownlow and Simon Rickerty. The animated series brings the charm and rhythm of the books to life across 26 x 7-minute episodes, filled with bright visuals, fun characters, and plenty of opportunities for kids to count along.

The first 15 episodes kicked off this summer, starting with Ten Little Pirates – a playful adventure where ten pirates search for treasure, only to disappear one by one in classic Ten Little fashion. It’s a fun, energetic countdown that keeps young viewers laughing and engaged from start to finish.

Other episodes feature unicorns, superheroes, dinosaurs, and robots – each packed with character, colour, and chaos in the best possible way. The series also features a fantastic soundtrack composed by the talented YolanDa Brown, which adds even more personality and musicality to the episodes.

We handled dialogue recording for the show here at 3studio in Sheffield, working closely with director Jack Tilley and producer Hannah Lee Miller. As always, the Karrot team were a dream to work with – clear vision, collaborative approach, and lots of good humour in the room (and the booth).

Ten Little… Who? is now airing on the Sky Kids linear channel, scheduled Monday to Friday at 07:45, 15:45, and 17:30, and is available on demand from 6am daily via Sky Kids and NOW.

At 3studio, we had the privilege of working on The Assessment, a gripping 2024 science fiction thriller directed by Fleur Fortuné in her feature-length debut. Starring Elizabeth Olsen, Alicia Vikander, and Himesh Patel, this thought-provoking film takes viewers into a near-future world devastated by climate change, where the suitability for parenthood is determined through a rigorous and unsettling process.

Our involvement in the production included recording ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement), helping ensure that the performances of this incredible cast translated flawlessly to the screen. Working on the nuanced and emotionally charged dialogue of The Assessment was an exciting challenge, given the intense psychological depth and tension woven into the story.

The film follows Mia (Elizabeth Olsen) and Aaryan (Himesh Patel), a couple who must endure a seven-day assessment overseen by Virginia (Alicia Vikander), an assessor whose increasingly erratic and unsettling behaviour pushes the couple to their limits. Through its unique premise and haunting execution, the film raises profound questions about society, humanity, and the ethical boundaries of control.

Premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival, The Assessment has already garnered critical acclaim, with an impressive 86% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes. With Amazon Prime Video acquiring international rights outside Germany, the film is set to reach a global audience, and we’re proud to have played a small part in its creation.

This time, the stakes were even higher as he continued his mission to confront the dark forces that lurk beyond the physical world. Unlike traditional paranormal investigations, Ian wasn’t just exploring haunted locations - he was dealing directly with suspected possession, pushing him further into the unknown.

Our role in this production involved recording Voice Over, ensuring that Ian’s narration captured the gravity and intensity of the case. His voice provided a guiding thread for viewers, offering insight, experience, and a first-hand account of the terrifying events he faced. With a case as serious as this, it was essential that every word conveyed the tension and urgency of the investigation.
