Girl Group

At 3studio, we were delighted to welcome Sheridan Smith back to our Sheffield studio for ADR recording on the 2026 comedy Girl Group.

The session was directed remotely by the film's writer, director, producer and star, Rebel Wilson, who was able to listen in, communicate with Sheridan and direct each take in real time. Pleased with how the day had gone, Rebel and Sheridan agreed there was some extra dialogue worth capturing, and Sheridan returned to the studio the following day to record it - again directed remotely by Rebel.

The film has now received its world premiere as a Gala Presentation at the Toronto International Film Festival.

About Girl Group

Written and directed by Rebel Wilson, Girl Group follows a former pop diva who sees an opportunity for a comeback when she begins coaching a group of teenage misfits for a major record-label audition.

The comedy brings together a brilliant ensemble cast including Rebel Wilson, Jennifer Coolidge, Nicole Scherzinger, Randall Park, Sheridan Smith, Jamie-Lee O'Donnell and Guz Khan. The cast also features some familiar faces from the world of pop, including Melanie C, Shaznay Lewis and Ashley Roberts.

Remotely directed ADR at 3studio

For both sessions, 3studio provided its broadcast-quality ADR facilities and engineering support, connecting Sheridan in Sheffield with Rebel directing remotely.

Remote direction allows filmmakers and production teams to oversee a recording session from anywhere in the world while retaining the immediate, collaborative experience of being in the studio. Everyone can communicate clearly, review performances and work through each line together in real time.

It was a pleasure to welcome Sheridan back to 3studio across two days, and to work remotely with Rebel on this hugely enjoyable production.
